A positive development since October 7 is what I hope will be a long-lasting paradigm shift in Israeli security services and government that Israeli journalist, Amit Segal, described as follows:

Israel made a commitment in the past few years: people calling for the destruction of Israel will be taken at their word and dealt with as such.

It reminds me of the frequently quoted admonishment from the Talmud:

If someone rises to kill you, rise to kill him first

Neither Israel, Jews living outside Israel, or anyone contending with radical, violent groups have the luxury of assuming that threats are just words and the people making the threats don’t intend carrying them out.
