I’ve been listening to the “Heretic in the House” podcast hosted by Professor Naomi Seidman. It’s a short series of about five episodes that explores attitudes towards people who leave the Orthodox Jewish Community to live a life that is “Off the Derech”, or “Off the Path”.

It is a really interesting and engaging series of interviews that makes it pretty clear that this is not a black and white issue, so to speak. It can be complex, and pretty challenging for the people who decide to leave these insular communities and their families for a modern world that is so troubling for those still within these traditional communities.
This is well worth listening to.
