“Can we sit to discuss X”: the productivity death knell

There are times when meetings are appropriate. Not many. Most times the invitation to "sit to discuss" kills productivity.

There are times when the most effective way to discuss something is to get relevant people together in a room and work through the issues. The problem comes in when an invitation to “sit to discuss”┬ásomething becomes the norm at the expense of more efficient ways to collaborate on projects. At that point that quick meeting just kills another productivity fairy.
