I was watching a National Geographic episode about photographer Paul Nicklen’s efforts to capture the elusive spirit bear in British Columbia. It’s a fascinating story and a quote at the end of the episode stood out for me:

When the image in your head becomes a lump in your throat, that’s photography

Isn’t that an awesome description? I probably mangled it a little but I love the sentiment. Below is a preview of what Nicklen had to do to capture his photos. Inspiring for amateurs like me.
