Earthquakes and natural disasters rock the USA

Metafilter has reported on a series of predictions of a catastrophic disaster in North America which was made by a largely South African group of psychics, healers and other esoterically minded people.  Apparently the primary psychic, SilverJade is a resident of Johannesburg, my hometown.  The Free Internet Press has also carried this story which begins with this introductory paragraph:

A group of psychics led by colourful ‘SilverJade’, based in
Johannesburg South Africa, have predicted that a series of earthquakes
and other natural disasters will strike the western coast of the United
States on or around the 23rd of February 2005.

The predictions are based on a dream SilverJade had in which she witnessed a powerful natural disaster.  Her dream is recounted here.
There appears to be quite a bit of imagery and symbolism which
SilverJade and her ‘colleagues’ find to be particularly significant.
SilverJade’s comments about the prediction itself can be found here.  The prediction itself is meant to be preceded by a series of smaller events, one of which was meant to be an earthquake in Alaska measuring about 6 on the Richter scale.  This prediction failed to manifest (there were a series of smaller quakes measuring between 4 and about 5.5 on the Richter scale, which is usual for this region).

There are also 15 steps which will basically be the countdown to the main event.

Of course whether anything predicted actually happens is anyone’s guess.  Psychics have often predicted catastrophic events and these have failed to manifest.  I do believe, though, that we will be in for something one day simply because we have mistreated this home of ours and I suspect it is only a matter of time until the Earth fights back.
