How little I understand autism

I watched a pair of Apple ads that highlight an autistic teenager named Dillan. The ads highlight for me how little I understand autism and what an autistic person experiences. It will take more than these ads to gain that understanding but it’s a helpful reminder that there is much more to autism than many of us may think:

I love the idea that devices like the iPad (and, I’m sure, many others) can help autistic people express themselves to the rest of us more effectively and help them connect better.

Use Slack like an animal

Slack is running a brilliant ad campaign and I had to share the two videos that made me laugh this morning. They give new meaning to the phrase “like an animal”:

Slack is pretty good when it comes to quirky marketing and messaging. I love their app update messages which are a big departure from the usual “Bug fixes & performance enhancements” narratives you usually see in app updates. Here is a recent example:

Google ad on a video interview with a Facebook exec #insecuremuch

I’m watching a couple videos in my Watch Later queue while I get through some admin in my office and I noticed this Google ad pop up on a video interview with a Facebook executive at last year’s Le Web.

I didn’t notice ads popping up on other Le Web videos so this one really stood out. I wonder if this was intentional and, if it was, wow. I suppose it depends on who placed it too.
