Ze Frank's message: It's getting better

Ze Frank published an episode on 1 October titled “Getting Better” which is important for anyone who feels overwhelmed by their pain and their life experiences, whether they are gay or straight. His video is a response to a gay boy’s suicide and its a message that still seems to be as critical as it has been for a long time.

If you know someone who needs help, Ze has a number of links in his post that may be helpful. A campaign called “It Gets Better” launched a few years ago with support from LGBT people at a number of social services. I remember the campaign and the number of people who posted videos about how it gets better. It was, and remains, a powerful message.

Photo distortion issue I could use some help with

My wife took this photo recently and I noticed some distortion in it while I was going through the batch in Lightroom. Here is the original:

Photo distortion issue - the original photo

And here is the detail:

Photo distortion issue

I’ve noticed this distortion in photos I take with my DSLR and I don’t know what causes it. This particular photo was shot at 1/3200 sec, f2, ISO 100 and with a 50mm lens. This particular view is visible like this when I zoom in with Lightroom (the single click zoom when developing or viewing photos).

The person my wife took the photo of is out of focus but I have seen this sort of distortion in a number of photos. Is the image quality setting in my camera? The photos are shot in JPG.

Any ideas or tips?
