Hi Paul – We live in a lazy, stereotype world, where most of what we do today is based on what we did yesterday. Well-worn expressions like “not invented here”, “that’s the way we’ve always done it”, and the like are stifling innovation in work practices. In this connected 21st Century world, why do we have meetings, seminars and conferences? Usually to line the pockets of the organisers and their service providers – less and less to share valuable insights. Formulaic agendas, timings, venue arrangements and locations…

We are not that good at grasping the potential of the new tools, either – many would-be beneficiaries are too afraid to grasp the nettle and get to grips with the collaboration applications that save wasted travel time and refreshment costs.

It does help to have a fast, reliable and affordable broadband connection and quick keyboard/mouse/stylus skills!

If you have to stand in front of an audience, think about how a successful stand-up comic does it. No screen, no script. Just a series of short stories with meaningful punch lines that are in tune with the individuals that make up the crowd.
