Matt Mullenweg posted that Professor Marvin Minsky, a pioneer in artificial intelligence research, passed away this last Sunday. I hadn’t heard of Professor Minsky before I read Mullenweg’s post but I read Glenn Rifkin’s article about him, titled “Marvin Minsky, Pioneer in Artificial Intelligence, Dies at 88” in the New York Times and I’m glad I did.

There are so many people who have helped shape our lives in profound ways who we don’t usually encounter or even hear about because the world can be that big and our worlds can be that small. I enjoy taking a little time to expand my world a little by reading a little about the people who helped create it.

Take a few minutes to expand yours.
