Things always seem to be about us, personally. As much as we would prefer to be able to attribute our experiences to other people and things, they are still our experiences and shaped by our own filters and pre-dispositions.
This makes having arguments really difficult because sustaining an argument or a gripe with someone or something requires us to assume that we could be made to feel a certain way by those people and things. Sure external things affect us but if weren’t all lacking in the Strong Sense of Self Department, they probably wouldn’t affect us in such a way that we perceived it as something done to us.
Not easy being human. Actually, it is but getting past the us-them mindset is tough.
