Good to see everyone at the 27 Dinner

I am home from this month’s 27 Dinner at Melrose Arch. The evening started off with a power failure courtesy of Eskom’s load shedding …

27 Dinner on 27 November 2007 - 13

… which last about an hour and a half. The power eventually came back on and those of us who had spread out to find food in Melrose Arch quickly returned to the Primi for the Big Announcement which turned out to be a tour of the new beta version of Afrigator.

I do feel like a bit of a tool. There were a bunch of people I wanted to chat to and get to know better and between the power failure and wanting to get home to my wife and baby, I didn’t get to chat to anyone for very long. I am really glad I got to meet Stii, Bev and Mark to name just a few. Of course it was great to catch up with Justin, Mike, Nic, Merle, Eve, Carly, Gregor, Danie, Victoire, Nico and many others.

As always, good to see everyone even though I didn’t get to chat to everyone!

    Afrigator seems to me like a third wheel.

    It doesn't offer anything that amatomu doesn't.

    In fact, I find new bloggers on amatomu, because they list new blogs.

    I've made quite a few new friends that way.

    No, afrigator fails to impress me.

    Come on. Wow me. Make me sit up and notice.

    Don't make the mistake of thinking that I'm just being all negative and pessimistic for the sake of it.

    Check my latest blog posting where I reviewed songza.com. If some site really does offer utility, I will be excited by it.

    So, excite me.

    You're totally changed your whole look! My God!

    It looks nice. And I'm glad you're sticking with WordPress. 🙂

    But, my god, how did you manage to fall to 301 on amatomu's rankings?

    Yup, I liked the green theme in Movable Type and found a similar looking one for WordPress when I reconstituted my blog this morning. As for the ranking, I think that is largely because I didn't have tracking code in place on Movable Type and I pretty much fell off the radar. My ranking was in the 800s when I started this blog up again so I am sure the ranking will normalise soon.
