I think you're taking a soft line on Mr McLaren and his lawyers. I saw a link on Muti to his blog but when I tried to read his blog I found it completely incomprehensible. Not a good starting point for a “web expert”.

Last time I had to deal with a lawyer making threats I published his email, including his email address (with a mailto link), phone number and spelling mistakes.

After they did nothing for a few months I called his secretary and asked him to do a search on his name in Google. That got things moving again 😉

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who makes legal threats is just begging to be made a fool of. Like the elusive Mr Meyer (of timeshare fame) on my blog.
