Firefox stepping on Flock’s toes?

I see that Mozilla is testing a new social networking product called The Coop which will integrate more social networking into Firefox:

Enter “The Coop”, a Mozilla Labs project to experiment with adding social tools to the web browser. We want to create a fun and easy way to share links with your friends, and to browse the set of links that friends have shared with you. We also want to make it easy to “subscribe” to a friend in order to make it easy to keep track of the pictures, movies, blog posts and status information that they might be posting on a variety of services. There’s a project page that describes The Coop in a bit more detail, and also has some mockups of how it might look (my favorite is the idea for a view that shows a stream of recently shared material.)

The tool seems pretty interesting because it enables you to subscribe to specific people rather than their disparate content streams so instead of subscribing to a friend’s photos, videos and blogs separately, it appears that you can subscribe to the friend and use that subscription as an aggregator for all their content. All this in your Firefox browser which now becomes a social browser.

The Flock browser is based on the same Gecko engine that runs Firefox and has integrated social media functionality. This move is bound to have an impact on Flock’s user base, or will it? Stii, you’re a Flock fanatic, what do you think?
