I’ve done a little research on the Web and it seems to me that there are two main options for broadcasting stuff on my iPod through my car radio while I am driving. The one is the Monster iCarplay Wireless and the other is the Griffin iTrip. Has anyone has experience with either (or even comparative experience) using a video iPod? Any recommendations? The advantage the iCarplay has over the iTrip is that the iCarplay charges the iPod while driving.
Hey,
Okay personally I use the ice-link system that is hardwaired into the cars system (mapped to the cd shuttle button). That way I can control everything from my steering wheel, it's about R2000 installed.
The iTrip and similar unpowered FM transmiters suck. They suck bad.
However, while my car's been geetting fixed I needed an alternative and went for Griffin's RoadTrip (R550, WW computers, Cretsa). I'm blown away by how good this unit is, really blown away, so much so I bought a second one for my wife. The trasmission to FM 88.1 is perfect and it charges too.
If you want the sexier option, the icelink rocks, but having said that, I have found no fault with the RoadTrip.
Hope this helps…!
You don't mention what car but http://www.ipodyourbmw.com/ integrates well for bmw's.

Thanks for the input Rich and Armand. I have a Mazda Sting so the BMW option won't work. I'll take a look at the RoadTrip. Does the unit plug into the car charger?

I “had” the iTrip until recently. I found that particulary around the Melville area (SABC or other high power antennae in the region) it starts sucking big time though all the channels. PS: I found 106.0 fm probably the best of the bad bunch.
Unfortunately driving a Volvo means no hard wire option as yet – something to do with the fiber optics being too advanced blah blah.
Maybe it was fate that stepped in, cos the iTrip isn't built that well either – a small knock and the the whole thing came appart, which basically renders it pretty much useless – even with liberal use of duct-tape and soldering.
I may just pop over to Wayne's World today to check out the roadtrip.

Hmm found this link just now – maybe I'll try it first before popping over to WW's.
It's worth a shot.
