Does your lawyer eat his own dogfood?

I came across this really interesting expression on “My Shingle” today.  Carolyn Elefant asks whether lawyers eat their own dogfood.  Now she is not referring to the brown stuff that comes in large bags and which make your puppies positively squeal (mine do) when they see it.  She is referring to a notion of consuming your own services and for lawyers this means following their own advice and consuming their own content (agreements and other documents).

It would be an interesting exercise to determine whether your lawyer (and, indeed, other professionals) follow the advice they give you themselves.  If not, why not?
