The rand broke R7,52, on Thursday afternoon, its weakest level in three years. It’s weakness is believed to be linked to a ballooning current-account deficit combined with fears that controversial ANC Deputy President Jacob Zuma may have an improved shot at presidency, after his corruption trial was thrown out of court.
