Global warming … an inconvenient truth

An Inconvenient Truth

The man who calls himself the man “who used to be the next president”, Al Gore, is a star in a new movie called “An Inconvenient Truth” which is part of a campaign to stop global warming.

Please join us in this campaign to stop global warming. Use the information that is found elsewhere on this web site to make the practical changes in your life that will enable you to become part of the solution and no longer part of the problem. Then join with us in raising awareness of what is at stake:

We are changing the Earth’s climate. Heat-trapping gases from human activities are causing glaciers to melt, seas to rise, storms to strengthen and disease to spread. Concentrations of these gases in the atmosphere are now higher than at any time in human history and climbing sharply. This planetary emergency compels us to act.

Fortunately, solutions are at hand. Clean energy technologies available today can slow and then reverse global warming. Each one of us can do our part — in our own lives and by demanding action from our political leaders. Working together, we will solve this problem.

The Bush Administration has refuted that we are experiencing global warming and has rejected an important measure designed to reduce emissions that contribute to global warming, namely the Kyoto Accord. In fact, the United States has been described as a “rogue nation” because of its rejection of the Accord and the Bush Administration’s refusal to enter into the global warming debate. This shouldn’t be surprising given President Bush’s strong ties to the oil industry in the United States.

I wonder if this movie is going to be regarded as the environmental equivalent of Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11“. This is definitely a movie worth watching when it comes out. In the meantime, check out the trailer.
