“The Last Unicorn”

I was waiting for G after watching "Million Dollar Baby" last night (brilliant movie, go see it!), when I saw what must have been a behind-the-scenes video of "The Last Unicorn", the first in (Michael pointed out that The Last Unicorn does not form part of the seven book series, "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe and is a separate book – thanks for the correction!) a precursor to what seems to be a seven part movie live action version of "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" by C. S. Lewis.  What caught my attention was that the make-up and sets looked like they came right out of "Lord of the Rings".  It tuns out the company that did the special effects for the "Lord of the Rings" movies are doing the special effects for these movies too:

In theory, this could be a very good thing — though I must admit, I’m a little more excited about the live-action version of C. S. Lewis’ The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe — apparently the first in a planned seven-film series covering the entire set of books, with special effects by the crew of Weta (you might have heard of them — they did the effects for a little series called The Lord of the Rings). Apple has a short look at Weta’s work on the film and another on director Andrew Adamson.

According to IMDB, "The Last Unicorn" is due out next year.

One minor correction — The Last Unicorn is an entirely separate thing from The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. TLtWatW is the first of seven parts to C. S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia, TLU is a work of its own.

I'm still looking forward to both of them, though.

Perhaps this a remake of a movie I saw as I child. A sad, sad movie. But I remember watching it with my sister, maybe I was 4 or 5 at the time. I would love to see that movie now, either the old one or a remake.

Million Dollar Baby was an excellent film. Amazing. Tears, lots and lots of tears.

I am a great fan of this movie – my ex bf bought it for me on VHS from the net. That said I dont really want to see the remake – because it could spoil perhaps my favourite film ever. I am doubtful for a start that a real life horse could look very convincing talking (mr ed anyone?) Sigh, but I will watch it with an open mind – then watch the old one again if its awful 🙂 Jen
